Opening Line Invites Ian Back for Feature Interview

The September issue of Opening Line’s Literary ‘Zine has been launched today and the literary magazine’s feature interview is with yours truly supplemented with an extract from my upcoming novel. The focus of the four-page interview is very much on my writing aspirations, writing background, my inspiration for Invasion of Privacy and approach to writing it.

As it’s the first interview of my writing career this is a particularly special achievement and I’m grateful to James and Frances at Opening Line for giving me this opportunity.

In the previous month’s issue, Opening Line included an excerpt from Invasion of Privacy. The August issue was themed around the subject of Villains and so that extract chosen was the first scene in the novel from the point of view of the novel’s antagonist, a particularly despicable rapist and serial killer. The fact that the scene was written in the rarely-seen second person narrative caught the attention of Opening Line’s editors and so they invited me back for their feature interview:

When Ian submitted an extract from his up-coming novel, ‘Invasion of Privacy’ to last month’s issue, Opening Line were fascinated and intrigued. We simply had to find out more, so James Harding tracked Ian down for an interview…

Opening Line is an online literary magazine designed to promote unpublished writers and illustrators, and authors who are just about to embark on their first public release. The Opening Line magazine (download available in pdf. format) is published monthly and will have a new, publicised theme for each issue.
